HENU students win the national first prize in the 18th China Undergraduate Chemical Engineering Design Competition

From August 16th to August 22nd, during the final of the 18th “Tianzheng Design Cup” China Undergraduate Chemical Engineering Design Competition, HENU team “Youth Dare to Do” from the School of Energy Science and Technology, consisting of students Lv Mingguang, Sun Wenhao, Sun Peiyan, Li Lu and Xiao Yingchao, won the national first prize and the Excellence Award for Modern Design Method Application.

This marks the sixth national first prize and the first special excellence award that HENU has achieved in this competition.

This competition required technologies to align with China’s green, low-carbon and circular development. Since its launch in March, a total of 3,685 teams from 450 colleges and universities nationwide registered for the event, with nearly 19,000 participants. The competition was divided into two stages: regional preliminaries and the national final. It featured seven regions including Northeast, East China, and Southwest. The regional preliminaries were completed in early August, selecting 61 teams (including one international team) to compete in the national final.

The HENU team “Youth Dare to Do” was established in November 2023, under the guidance of teachers Li Qinghua, Guo Quanhui, Tang Yanting and others. After nine months of preparation and summer training, the team members collaborated to complete high-quality design projects. In the Central China regional competition, they won first place and a special prize with their professional performance, advancing to the national final. The national final brought together teams from 61 colleges and universities, making it an “Olympics” for undergraduate students majoring in chemical engineering. The competition not only enhanced the students’ systematic and comprehensive abilities in chemical engineering-related knowledge but also honed their engineering practice and innovative thinking skills, fostering process design concepts and innovative thinking capabilities, while also strengthening teamwork and perseverance.
