Overview

Found in 1912, the Library is now in the leading position of the university libraries in the country in terms of floor area, collection quantity and service. At present, the total area of the library is more than 65,000 square meters, of which the Minglun Campus Library has 18,248 square meters and the Jinming Campus Library has 47,500 square meters.

Matching the building area is the number of various collections. The total amount of literature resources in HENU Library has reached 12.62 million volumes. There are 5.62 million volumes of paper documents, including nearly 205,000 volumes of thread-bound ancient books, more than 180,000 books in foreign languages, and more than 370,000 volumes of bound newspapers and periodicals. The digital resources amount to 131TB, including 4.03 million volumes (pieces) of electronic resources, more than 17,000 pieces of microfilm, audio-visual and CD-ROM data, and 228 databases.

Following its time-honored tradition of keeping readers at heart while providing top quality services, HENU Library facilitates the integrated service model that covers all aspects of library services, such as books circulation, audiovisual services for digital materials, information retrieval, online query and many documentary services, like delivery, copy, scan and so on.

The Library has 43 service offices, 34 reading rooms and bookstores, inquiry centers and Novelty Search Station, with a total of 6,647 seats, and is open 108 hours a week. In order to facilitate readers to borrow and return books, the circulation offices are open from Monday to Sunday.

Borrowing & Returning

Self-service machines are available at the libraries' Circulation Service Offices.

Borrowing Books

• Click the “Borrow Books” button on the machine and put your Student Card on the Reader for identification. Enter the last 6 digitals of your ID Number.

• After successful entry, put the book you want to borrow on the scanner for identification. Please confirm the book information and your personal information before click the “Exit” button.

Returning Books

• Click the "Return Books" button of the machine and place the book on the scanner.

• Please check the book information before clicking the "OK" button, and then click the "Exit" button after the process is completed.

FYI: Books in the Reading Rooms are for reading only, NOT for circulation.
