HENU students achieve outstanding results in the 9th China Undergraduate Life Sciences Contest


Recently, the final of the 9th China Undergraduate Life Sciences Contest concluded successfully. This Contest featured two categories: innovation & entrepreneurship, and scientific inquiry. It attracted over ten thousand teams from more than a hundred colleges and universities nationwide. For the first time, the contest of scientific inquiry adopted a unified provincial and national competition format. Students from the School of Life Sciences performed excellently, securing one national first prize, four second prizes, and one third prize in the innovation and entrepreneurship category; and two national first prizes (provincial special prizes), two second prizes (provincial first prizes), nine third prizes (provincial second prizes), and eleven provincial third prizes in the scientific inquiry category.


The national final of the innovation & entrepreneurship category was held at Xihua University’s Pidu Campus. The entrepreneurial team from the School of Life Sciences won one first prize; the innovative projects secured four second prizes; and one entrepreneurial project received a third prize.


The provincial final of the scientific inquiry category in Henan Province took place at Zhoukou Normal University. Two projects from the School of Life Sciences won national first prizes (provincial special prizes); two other projects received national second prizes (provincial first prizes).


During the competition preparation process, the School of Life Sciences leveraged its professional strengths to organize students through the entire process from topic selection to roadshow presentations. Responsible faculty members provided comprehensive guidance throughout, offering all-around support to nurture students’ innovative awareness, practical abilities and team spirit. They optimized project details, fostered an innovative atmosphere and promoted academic exchange.


The outstanding results achieved in this Contest have supported the cultivation of innovative talents at the School. The School will continue to rely on the Henan Province Outstanding Biology Students Training Base and the advantages of its first-class discipline in biology. It will actively expand educational platforms, innovate training models, highlight the effectiveness of practical and research-oriented education, and support student development.
