On the afternoon of August 9, HENU convened a special seminar on Sino-foreign cooperative education at Jinming Campus. Vice President Ligang Zhang and Academic Vice President Shenglei Fu attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Relevant functional departments and heads of colleges participated in the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Qiuye Li, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office.
During the meeting, representatives from the International Business School, Eurasia International School, Miami College, and the International School for Chinese Language and Culture (The Silk Road Institute) successively reported on the basic situation, issues faced and future work plans of their colleges. Subsequently, representatives from the College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, School of Computer and Information Engineering, The College of Geography and Environmental Science, School of Life Sciences, College of Agriculture, and Medical School reported on the internationalization efforts, challenges encountered and development plans of their colleges. All colleges expressed their commitment to further accelerate the pace of internationalization within their units, aiming to leverage high-quality international cooperation and exchange to boost the high-quality development of disciplines.
Officials from the Development Planning Department, Academic Affairs Office, International Affairs Office, Finance Department and Graduate School listened carefully to the reports from various colleges. They engaged in discussions around related issues and, in line with their respective functions, offered guidance and suggestions for HENU Sino-foreign cooperative education efforts, expressing continued strong support for related work.
In his speech, Shenglei Fu pointed out that Sino-foreign cooperative education is an important driving force for HENU internationalization efforts. All relevant units should further focus on the development needs of the nation and HENU, deeply understand the significance and essence of internationalization, actively expand cooperation with world-class universities, accelerate the enhancement and efficiency of Sino-foreign cooperative education, effectively increase its support for key discipline construction, and make due contributions to the high-quality and rapid development of HENU.
Ligang Zhang concluded the meeting. He highlighted that HENU has established a strategic positioning to build a research-oriented, comprehensive, international first-class university and places great importance on internationalization efforts. All relevant units should further elevate their perspectives, build consensus, and collaboratively advance internationalization-related work. They must earnestly study and implement the new requirements for educational internationalization proposed by the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Party, seize opportunities of the era, scientifically plan blueprints, strengthen institutional guarantees, expand cooperation and exchange with overseas high-level universities in the fields of science and engineering disciplines, and jointly contribute to the grand endeavor of enhancing HENU “Double First-Class” and “Double Aircraft Carrier” construction through Sino-foreign cooperative education.
