From November 9 to 11, the First Cross Strait and Hong Kong Macao Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Innovation Conference was held in Zhengzhou and Luoyang.
The Conference was attended by Academician Xiaojiang Hao of the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Hongxing Xu of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Dongxiao Sun of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Academician Geoffrey Waterhouse of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Academician Qitai Xu of the European Academy of Sciences, the foreign Academician Guangju Ji of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Keping Lu, secretary of the Party Committee of Henan University (HENU), Baohui Wang, director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of the China Association for Science and Technology, Yuzhe Song, chief economist of the Department of Commerce of Henan Province, Guohui Wang, deputy mayor of Luoyang City, as well as more than 300 representatives from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and other regions. The opening ceremony was presided over by Guofan Lv, chairman of Henan Association for Science and Technology.
Guofan Lv pointed out that traditional Chinese medicine technology originated in Henan. In recent years, the Party Committee of Henan Province and the People’s Government of Henan Province have attached great importance to the development of traditional Chinese medicine. The Conference conducted discussions, exchanges and cooperation, relying on the development trend of traditional Chinese medicine and the existing foundation. It was held with an aim to promote the inheritance, innovation and development of traditional Chinese medicine in China so as to contribute the power of traditional Chinese medicine.
On behalf of HENU, Keping Lu extended a warm welcome to the academicians, experts, leaders and guests and introduced the history and basic situation of HENU. He hoped that the Conference would help people on both sides of the Straits enhance exchanges and cooperation so as to achieve win-win results, contributing to the development of traditional Chinese medicine in China.
Subsequently, Academician Hongxing Xu, Academician Baofeng Yang of Harbin Medical University, and Professor Lixian Liang of the University of Macau delivered speeches respectively.
At the opening ceremony, the “Science and Technology Cooperation Framework Agreement between Henan University and the People’s Government of Song County” was signed.
At the Conference, Academician Xiaojiang Hao, Researcher Jinhai Huo of Heilongjiang Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Researcher Bingui Wang of Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Huiming Wang of Chung Hsing University in Taiwan gave speeches respectively. Their speeches are titled “Contribution of Natural Resources to Innovative Drugs”, “Research and Development of Chinese Patent Medicines for the Treatment and Prevention of Pneumonia”, “Seaweed Halogenated Compounds and Seaweed Endogenous Fungal Active Products”, and “Application of Nanocoating of Chinese Herbal Medicine”. In the afternoon, three conferences were held, including the expert roundtable meeting titled “Breakthroughs and Inheritance of the Development of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry” and two forums which offered a total of 22 expert reports.
