Suojiang ZHANG wins the TWAS-Award in Chemistry

   

The TWAS 16th General Conference kicked off in Hangzhou, China, on November 21, at which the winners of the 2024 TWAS Awards were announced. Suojiang ZHANG, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of Henan University, was awarded the TWAS-Award in Chemistry for his outstanding contributions to basic scientific research and green technology development in ionic liquids and chemical engineering.


TWAS (The World Academy of Sciences), founded in 1983 by the Nobel laureate Abdus Salam, is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit international scientific organization. Headquartered in Trieste, Italy, it is committed to assisting developing countries in conducting scientific research activities, promoting exchanges and cooperation between researchers and research institutions, and advancing the development of basic science and applied science. The TWAS-Award in Science is given to scientists from developing countries who are selected out for outstanding contributions to scientific research every two years.


Suojiang ZHANG, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, President of Henan University and vice chairman of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, serves as the editor-in-chief of the Chinese Journal of Process Engineering, and Green Energy & Environment. His research focuses on green energy, new chemical materials and green process engineering.
