On November 16, theSchoolof Geography and Environmental Science held a lectureforGIS Day (Geographic Information System Day).

At the lecture,Jiajun QIAO, secretary of the Party Committee of theSchool, delivered a speech. Weiyang YAN, deputy director of the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Environment and Planning, introduced thecurrentsituation of GIS major in Henan University.

Later,Yong CHEN, vice president of SuperMap, gave a reporttitled“Innovation and Development of GIS Basic Software Technology”,introducingthe innovation of GIS basic software andexplainingthe geographic information industry chain.

Prof.Pinde FU, project director of the Development Department of the Environmental Systems Research Institute (Esri), gave a report titled“Latest Development of International Web GIS and Mobile GIS”, in which he demonstratedhow to usetechnologies and softwarerelated toWeb GIS and mobile GIS.

This lecture allowed teachers and students to have a good understanding of the development of the GIS majorintheSchoolof Geography and Environmental Science, the innovation and development of GIS basic software technology,andthe latest progress and development trendof international Web GIS and mobile GIS, greatly promoting the development ofGIS major.
