On November 20^th, the 2021 Forum on Ecological Protection and High-quality Development of Yellow River Basin was held in the Minglun campus of Henan University both offline and online, organized by Henan University, the Geographical Society of China, and the Yellow River Institute of Hydraulic Research of the Yellow River Conservancy Commission.

With Henan University as the main venue, and the Yellow River Institute of Hydraulic Research as the branch venue, more than 300 representatives attended the forum, from the Yellow River Basin Ecological Environment Supervision and Administration of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of CAS, the Yellow River Institute of Hydraulic Research, and Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Party School of the Central Committee (National Academy of Governance), Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Normal University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, East China Normal University, Shandong University, Henan University, Chang'an University, and the Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development Center, also including some from Henan University. And more than 6000 people participated in the Forum online.

In the morning of November 20^th, the opening ceremony of the Forum was held in the Small Auditorium of the Minglun campus of HENU. At the Forum, Chun-peng SONG, President of HENU, Fahu CHEN, Chairman of the Geographical Society of China, Jianzhong ZHANG, the Party Chief of the Yellow River Institute of Hydraulic Research, and Yingwei LI, Deputy Director of the Henan Provincial Commission of Development and Reform, delivered speeches successively.

With the theme of "Ecological Protection and High-quality Development of the Yellow River Basin: Science and Practice", this Forum revolved around 6 topics, including river basin man-land system and sustainable science, river governance and sustainable development, and the Yellow River basin man-land system dynamics and ecological civilization construction. At the Forum, 17 experts, including Bojie FU, the Academician from Beijing Normal University and the Research Center for Eco-Environment Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Baishan ZHANG from of the Yellow River Basin Ecological Environment Supervision and Administration of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Chuanglin FANG from the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of CAS, and Professor Huixin YANG from Shandong University, made the keynote speeches.
