On November 16th, London time, Clarivate Analytics released the 2021 "Highly Cited Scientists" list. Professor Chun-Peng SONG of Henan University was selected as one of the highly cited researchers in plant and animal sciences.
Among the 6602 scientists on the list, 935 are from mainland China. They have published a number of papers that were highly cited in the past decade, with the citation frequency ranking the top 1% in the papers of the same discipline published in the Web of Science™ in the same year, demonstrating their great academic influence among their peers. Being selected into the list of highly cited researchers means that the scholar has world-class influence in his research field, and his scientific research achievements have made a great contribution to the development of this field.
Chun-Peng SONG, Ph.D. in Biology, Professor, doctoral supervisor, winner of National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars (2006), Chief Scientist of National Key Basic Research and Development Plan ("973" Plan) (2011). He obtained his Master’s degree in Science from Peking University in 1990 and Ph.D. Degree from China Agricultural University in 1997. From 1994 to 1995 and from 1999 to 2003, he worked in Lancaster University in the UK and the University of Arizona in the United States respectively as visiting scholar and postdoctoral researcher. Chun-Peng SONG has long been engaging in the research on improving plant water-use efficiency (WUE) and enhancing plant drought resistance. The molecular mechanism of stomatal regulation and root configuration formation mechanism in response to drought stress were creatively discussed, and a new model of WUE regulation was proposed. He has published over 150 papers in Nature Communications, Plant Cell etc., and 7 books and got granted 6 patents. He was awarded the second prize of National Natural Science in 2012.
