On October 3rd, WANG Xuelu, Vice President of HENU, and his party visited Chrysanthemum Research Base of the University.

Professor WANG Zicheng, Vice Dean of Institute of Modern Agriculture and Biotechnology and leader of the chrysanthemum research group, gave a detailed report on the situation of the research group. WANG Xuelu and others expressed their appreciation for the group’s spirit of working hard under difficult conditions, affirmed the achievements made, and said that they would strongly support the further development of the research group.

In 2016, the chrysanthemum research group of HENU signed a cooperation agreement with Bianjing Park to establish a joint research group to carry out chrysanthemum research and planting. At present, more than 60 mu chrysanthemum bases have been built, with a total asset of more than 1 million yuan. The Base adopts the mode of “cultivating the base on the base”. On the basis of ensuring the completion of the scientific research work of chrysanthemum, the new scientific research achievements are continuously applied to practice.

Over the years, relying on the Base, a scientific research team with WANG Zicheng as the leader has been formed, including senior professional and technical personnel of Kaifeng Bianjing Park, Longting Park, Iron Tower Park, Yuwangtai Park, Garden Office and other units. In Bianjing Park, the Base has carried out three consecutive years of autumn chrysanthemum exhibition activities, and won more than 40 awards at the 2019 Beijing World Horticultural Exposition. For many years, the Base has provided practice places for HENU graduate students and undergraduate students majoring in Agronomy, playing an important role in the cultivation of agricultural professionals.

Finally, WANG Xuelu and MIAO Chen encouraged WANG Zicheng and his group to continue their efforts and contribute to the “Double First-Class” initiative discipline  development of HENU as well as the development of Kaifeng City.
