On April 24, the Unveiling Ceremony of the School of Energy Science and Technology and the Seminar on the Development Strategy of Chemical Engineering was held at Youlan Complex, Zhengzhou Campus. The meeting was attended by well-known experts and scholars in the field of chemistry and chemical engineering from universities and institutes in China, leaders of Henan Province, leaders and experts of the Longzihu New Energy Laboratory, as well as leaders of Henan University (HENU), heads of relevant functional departments in HENU, and teachers and students representatives of the College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences. The Unveiling Ceremony of the School of Energy Science and Technology was presided over by Vice President Zhen Tan.

President Suojiang Zhang introduced the background of the School of Energy Science and Technology and the plans for its future development. He invited leaders and experts to provide more valuable opinions for the development of chemical engineering discipline and the University.

Bing Lv, member of the Henan CPC Education Working Committee, and Tuo Gao, chief engineer of the Department of Science and Technology, delivered speeches to congratulate the establishment of the School of Energy Science and Technology. They expressed their wishes that HENU would seize every opportunity for the development of chemical engineering discipline, and improve the strength of the University in leading the energy science and technology innovation of Henan Province. Yan Bai, executive vice dean of the Graduate School of HENU, reported on the operation plan of this newly established School.

Subsequently, Tuo Gao and Bing Lv unveiled the School of Energy Science and Technology along with Suojiang Zhang and Zhen Tan.

Qian Li, vice director of the Science and Technology Office, introduced the development plan for the chemical engineering discipline of HENU. At the meeting, experts and scholars put forward many practical opinions on the development of the University. They also expressed their best wishes for the future development of the School.

In the afternoon, the HENU Chemical Engineering Development Forum was held in Jinming Campus. More than 400 teachers and students of HENU participated in the Forum. At the Forum, 8 experts, including Academician Xuhong Qian, Academician Yingjin Yuan, Academician Xiaojun Peng, and Academician Chunming Xu, gave wonderful reports on frontier fields, including low-carbon industrial processes and synthetic biology.
