On the morning of April 12, the 2023 Spring Sports Meet at HENU was grandly held at Zhiyi Stadium on Jinming Campus. The opening ceremony was attended by Keping Lu, Secretary of the Party Committee, President Suojiang Zhang, as well as Vice President Shaokang Xu, Vice President Junjian Sun, Vice President Shenglei Fu and Vice President Lixin Zhang. It also invited heads of the School Sports Committee, the relevant functional departments and colleges to attend. The opening ceremony was presided over by Vice President Yuchen Miao.
At 8:30 a.m., the song Sportsmen March was played, accompanied by which were the Flag Guard, the School Flag Team, and the Bouquet Team walking to the rostrum to be reviewed by leaders, teachers and students. Later, athletes from colleges and units marched in the parade, offering wonderful performances.
At the opening ceremony, Suojiang Zhang delivered a speech, in which he indicated that physical education was closely linked to national development. He believed that strong physical health is the premise of a powerful country, and a prosperous national movement is a necessity for prosperous sports education.
The 2023 Spring Sports Meet of HENU was held under the theme of "Love HENU, Love Sports", lasting for three days. It attracted more than 4,600 people in 45 student teams and 43 faculty and staff teams to join in, including undergraduates, postgraduates and international students.
At 4 p.m. on April 14, the closing ceremony of the 2023 Spring Sports Meet at HENU was held at Zhiyi Stadium on Jinming Campus. The closing ceremony was attended by Vice President Zhen Tan, Vice President Shaokang Xu, Vice President Junjian Sun, Vice President Yuchen Miao, who is also the director of the HENU Sports Committee as well as heads of relevant functional departments and competitive units.
In the Meet, the top eight of Group A by overall scores were respectively the School of Economics, the College of Chinese Language and Literature, the School of Journalism and Communication, the School of Physics and Electronics, the International Business School, the School of Software, the Fine Arts College, and the School of Foreign Languages. In addition, 12 units were given the Excellent Organization Award; 12 units won the Sports Ethics Award; 4 units obtained the Special Contribution Award. It is worth noting that a total of 3 school sports records have been broken in the Meet. Apart from that, there were 2 athletes meeting the standard of the national first-class athlete and 41 athletes meeting the standard of the national second-level athlete.
