
On the morning of October 21, a four-member delegation led by Said Taha, Vice President of Elsevier, visited Henan University (HENU) for friendly discussions on potential collaboration. Academician ZHANG Suojiang, President of HENU, met with the delegation at Longzihu Campus in Zhengzhou and attended the exchange forum between HENU and Elsevier. The meeting was presided over by Vice President MIAO Yuchen, with participation from heads of relevant functional departments and faculty representatives.

President ZHANG Suojiang extended a warm welcome to the Elsevier delegation and introduced HENU’s historical development and institutional characteristics. He emphasized that HENU remains committed to its core mission of strengthening foundational sciences and humanities while developing new interdisciplinary programs in engineering and medical fields. This approach embodies HENU’s revitalized spirit of “confidence, dedication, openness, and innovation” and has stimulated dynamic growth throughout the institution. Noting Elsevier’s global leadership in scientific and medical information services and its commitment to deeply integrating research talent distribution with institutional disciplinary strengths, ZHANG expressed hope that this meeting would serve as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between Elsevier and HENU. He proposed expanding collaboration in areas such as scientific research data analysis, establishment of top-tier academic journals, and international dissemination, thereby supporting high-quality development for both parties.

After viewing HENU’s documentary The Way of the University, Said Taha presented Elsevier’s historical development and business scope. He proposed establishing a partnership with HENU to support its strategic vision of becoming a research-intensive, comprehensive, and globally engaged institution. Through providing reliable data resources and efficient intelligent tools, both parties aim to build a mutually beneficial cooperative relationship.
During the meeting, an Elsevier representative delivered a report titled “Global Vision, Chinese Characteristics, World-Class Standards: Data-Driven Scientific Development and Impact Enhancement”. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including cutting-edge science and disciplinary planning, reaching consensus on cooperation in multiple fields.
