HENU makes new progress in the construction of think tanks

On November 30th, the “2024 New Think Tank Governance Forum” was held in Lanzhou. The Institute for Educational Examination and Assessment and the Duty Crime Prosecution Research Center of Henan University (HENU) were successfully selected as source think tanks for the China Think Tank Index (CTTI). The Research Institute of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development and the Collaborative Innovation Center of Yellow River Civilization Provincial Co-construction received one award of Best Case of the Year for Think Tank Construction and two first-prize awards for Outstanding Research Achievements.

The forum brought together experts and scholars from across the country to share successful experiences in promoting high-quality development of think tanks. Nanjing University’s CCTRC released the 2024 CTTI think tank list, including additional source think tanks, best cases and outstanding achievements. To make CTTI think tank more representative and exemplary, this year’s application criteria were more stringent. A total of 264 applications were received, and after review and expert panel evaluation, an additional 118 think tanks were ultimately selected.

The Institute for Educational Examination and Assessment of HENU was established in 2019, designated as a key research base for humanities and social sciences by Henan Province in 2022, and approved as a Ministry of Education co-established research base for educational evaluation reform in 2024. The Institute adheres to the Party’s educational policy, implements the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and focuses on building a scientific, authoritative, and forward-looking institution for educational examinations and evaluation, with a professional team as the guarantee and information technology as the support. It strives to provide high-quality consulting services to educational decision-making departments, higher education institutions, research organizations, and high schools. It has adopted an “area focus—task acceptance—project promotion—result output” organizational operation mechanism and a “research and thinking convergence” research promotion mechanism, achieving a series of effective results in theoretical construction, policy consultation and practical guidance.

The Duty Crime Prosecution Research Center of HENU, established in 2020, is the successor to the Investigation and Prevention Research Center set up in 2014. In August of the same year, the Center stood out among 23 institutions nationwide and, along with research centers of the Peking University and the Tsinghua University, became one of the three new research bases added by the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, receiving the title of “Duty Crime Prosecution Research Base” and becoming the only duty crime prosecution think tank in the country. The Center is committed to gathering domestic and international resources, and promoting diversified cooperation. It aims to build a first-class domestic base for duty crime prosecution research, talent cultivation and legal research.

The “China Think Tank Index (CTTI)” is a think tank search engine and data platform jointly developed by Nanjing University and Guangming Daily. It features comprehensive data types and extensive information, making it an authoritative platform for think tank activities in China. HENU leads the provincial higher education institutions with 10 think tanks being listed in the CTTI Source Think Tank List.
