Key Laboratory of Plant Stress Biology, founded in 1990, includes the State Key Laboratory of Cotton Biology, Overseas Expertise Introduction Center for Discipline Innovation on Crop Stress Biology (111 Center), Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Plant Stress Biology, and the Collaborative Innovation Center of Plant Stress Biology of Henan Province. The Mechanisms of Stomatal Regulation of Plant Response to Drought Stress won the second-class prize of State Natural Science Award in 2012. The representative research results are published in the high-impact journals such as Plant Cell, PNAS, and Nature Geoscience. In 2017, the biology discipline, which is based on this key laboratory was selected for the development of “World First-Class” disciplines.
Key Laboratory of Plant Stress Biology has the MSc, PhD and post-doctoral programs in both biology and ecology. The laboratory has the distinguished scientists, including Academician, Chief Scientist of the 973 program, Changjiang Distinguished Professor, National Natural Science Foundation of Distinguished Young Scholars, Central Plains scholars, and the Chinese Academic of Sciences Hundred- talent Scholars.
The "111 Center" has recruited six overseas experts from US, Australia, and Japan for collaborative research and joint graduate student training. A number of oversea post-doctoral fellows currently work in the laboratory.
