The Opening Ceremony of the HENU New York Xinli Confucius Classroom Summer Camp is held


On July 24, the opening ceremony of the HENU New York Xinli Confucius Classroom Summer Camp took place at the Jinming Campus of Henan University. Shenglei Fu, Academic Vice President of Henan University, along with officials from the International Affairs Office, the International School for Chinese Language and Culture (ISCLC), and leaders and relevant personnel of the Confucius Classroom of New Energy Education Center in New York, attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Xiangling Li, Dean of the International School for Chinese Language and Culture.


At the beginning of the ceremony, Shenglei Fu provided a detailed introduction to the history of international student education at Henan University. He stated that the Confucius Classroom of New Energy Education Center in New York has built a cultural bridge for young people between the two countries. As the supporting unit for Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms, the International School for Chinese Language and Culture has long made positive contributions to promoting Sino-American cultural exchanges. Subsequently, Shenglei Fu expressed his hopes to the students of the summer camp, encouraging them to cherish this opportunity to deeply understand Chinese culture, become young ambassadors of Sino-American cultural exchanges, and contribute to the continuous and healthy development of relations between the two nations.


Guizhi Wang, leader of the summer camp and member of the Board of Directors of the Confucius Classroom of New Energy Education Center in New York, expressed her heartfelt thanks to the leaders and teachers of Henan University in her speech. She highlighted the profound significance of Sino-American youth exchanges, stating that face-to-face interactions allow for a better understanding of each other’s cultures and values, promoting cooperation between the two countries in various fields. She hoped that the students of the summer camp would seize this opportunity to establish deep friendships with their Chinese peers. Following this, she presented a plaque to Henan University on behalf of the Confucius Classroom of New Energy Education Center in New York.


Representatives from the students of the affiliated high school of Henan University, Jiale Huang, and the student representative of the Confucius Classroom of New Energy Education Center in New York, David Duan, also spoke. They expressed their intentions to engage in Sino-American cultural exchanges through the summer camp activities and to spread the excellent traditional Chinese culture to the world.


Teacher representative Run Guo introduced the learning content and activity arrangements of the summer camp to everyone. She stated that mastering Chinese and Chinese culture is not only a valuable asset for personal growth but also an important way to make positive contributions to Sino-American exchanges and cooperation.


It is reported that the Confucius Classroom of New Energy Education Center in New York was established in 2023. Following the Confucius Institute at Akron University, it is an independent Confucius Classroom established by Henan University in the United States, playing a significant role in promoting the international dissemination of Chinese culture and teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
