On April 22, 2024, Henan University held a virtual meeting with the Real Madrid Graduate School - Universidad Europea de Madrid to discuss the progress of their cooperative education program in Physical Education. Shenglei Fu, Vice President of Henan University (HENU), attended the meeting, alongside representatives from the university's International Affairs Office, Domestic Cooperation Office, and School of Physical Education and Sport. Representing the Spanish side were Emilio Butragueño, Dean of the Real Madrid Graduate School - Universidad Europea de Madrid and Director of Institutional Relations of Real Madrid C.F., Ricardo Gallego Redondo, Real Madrid Ambassador and Director for Asia Pacific at the Real Madrid Foundation, Maria Luisa, Rector of Universidad Europea de Madrid, and Guo Kexin, China Project Manager of the Real Madrid Foundation. The meeting was presided over by Jin Shang, Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office at Henan University.

Liqun Mao, Director of the Domestic Cooperation Office, reported on the progress of the program's preliminary work. Zhencun Wang, Dean of the Eurasia International School, then introduced the current program progress and the follow-up application arrangements. Emilio Butragueño provided an update on the preparation of program materials at Universidad Europea de Madrid. Subsequently, both parties engaged in further discussion and confirmation regarding the cooperation agreement, application materials, and other details of the collaboration.

Vice President Shenglei Fu highly commended Universidad Europea de Madrid for its achievements in talent cultivation and expressed gratitude to the personnel from both sides for their dedication to the program. He conveyed his anticipation for this collaboration and expressed his hope that both universities would work together to finalize the program application, thereby contributing to the internationalization of both institutions and fostering educational, scientific, and cultural exchanges between China and Spain.
