On the morning of October 21, the 2023 Academic Annual Conference of the Advanced Art Education Association of the Educational Calligraphy and Painting Society & the 3rd National Exhibition of Excellent Art Works of College Teachers opened at Henan University (HENU).
The opening ceremony was attended by Keping Lu, secretary of the Party Committee of HENU, Shui Fan, vice president of the Educational Calligraphy and Painting Association, Xiewei Song, dean of the School of Design of the Central Academy of Fine Art, Zongxian Huang, chief expert on major projects under the National Social Science Fund and dean of the Sichuan Provincial Academy of Arts, and Mu Li, director of the Social Aesthetic Education Research of Tsinghua University.
At the ceremony, Keping Lu said that in the new era, aesthetic education needs to focus on how to develop a new talent training model from more dimensions. He hoped that the delegates could fully discuss the future development of art education and reach more new consensus at this meeting relying on the Advanced Art Education Association.
Shui Fan put forward that in the era of artificial intelligence, meeting people's spiritual needs was very important and aesthetic education has become an indispensable solution. He hoped that in the future, the Association would be more noticed and supported by leaders and experts to work together for the vigorous development of China’s art education.
Special guest representatives Zongxian Huang and Jian Qu spoke successively. They believed that the Educational Calligraphy and Painting Society was an important platform for domestic discussion and research on advanced art education, which promoted the development of aesthetic education in colleges and universities in both theory and practice. The conference would strengthen communication and exchanges between China’s universities and colleges in professional aesthetic education and public art education, promoting the development of social aesthetic education.
After the opening ceremony, the guests visited the 3rd National Exhibition of Excellent Art Works of College Teachers.
This meeting, themed on “Boundaries and Construction Methods of Social Aesthetic Education,” attracted 125 participants, including deans and professors from Tsinghua University, Central Academy of Fine Arts, and Beijing Normal University, as well as full-time teachers engaged in aesthetic education. They discussed the social transformation of aesthetic education achievements, the industry-education integration mechanism of art production in colleges and universities, and the transformation of art forms amid media reform.
