On the afternoon of July 7, the signing ceremony between Henan University（HENU） and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences （CAAS）was held in Zhengzhou Campus， HENU. The ceremony invited members of CAAS, including Kongming Wu, President of CAAS and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Tan Sun, Vice President of CAAS, Yan Sun, office director of CAAS, Guangdong Jia, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Graduate School, Fuguang Li, Director of the Cotton Research Institute and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Cotton Biology, and Yinding Zhang, Director of the Promotion Office of the Department of Agricultural Technology Transfer.

Other guests invited to attend were Yuhua Diao, Deputy Director-general of the Education Department of Henan Province, Zongqin Xu, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Henan Province, Wanli Ma, Deputy Director of the Henan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Keping Lu, Secretary of the Party Committee of HENU, Zhen Tan, Xuelu Wang and Shuxia Feng, vice presidents of HENU.

Zhen Tan delivered a welcome speech. She said that the signing of the agreement marked an overall improvement in the cooperation. She wished that both sides would put more effort into platform construction, talent cultivation and social service involvement by making full use of both advantages and conducting joint forces for key fields to bring development for both sides.

Xuelu Wang indicated that this cooperation would improve the innovation capability of State Key Laboratory of Cotton Biology, and State Key Laboratory of Crop Stress Adaptation and Improvement so as to advance the construction of HENU as a comprehensive research-orient university.

Yuhua Diao promised that the Education Department of Henan Province would continue to help with the "Double First-class" construction of HENU, and give its full support to the cooperation between HENU and CAAS. He hoped that HENU could grasp every opportunity for its construction of related disciplines like biology to advance the higher education of Henan Province.

Zongqin Xu wished this signing could promote CCAS's cooperation with more colleges and universities, institutes and enterprises in Henan to work together for the agricultural modernization in Henan. He promised that the Department of Science and Technology of Henan Province, as the science and technology management service department, would better take its role as a service department in technology to give full support to the science and technology innovation platform.

Wanli Ma said that Henan Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs would fully support the cooperation between both sides in scientific research, platform construction, academic exchanges and personnel training to help the cooperation yield fruitful results.

Keping LU introduced the history of HENU and the development of agronomy of this university. He pointed out that HENU would offer favorable policies and other supports to help put the agreement into practice. In addition, he said that HENU would put more effort into collaborative innovation and strengthen the integration of production, education, research and application to promote the development of both sides.

Kongming Wu said that CAAS has always attached great importance to the cooperation with Henan University. He hoped that through this cooperation, CAAS could give full play to its advantages in bases, varieties and modern agricultural industrial technology system, and Henan University could show its advantage as a comprehensive university and give full play to its "Double First-class" construction discipline - biology so as to promote the development of both parties.

Then Tan Sun and Xuelu Wang, on behalf of the two parties, signed the cooperation agreement.

At the meeting, the two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on further cooperation.
