The new president inauguration was held in Zhengzhou on the morning of June 5, which marked the official recognition of Suojiang ZHANG as the president of Henan University.

Suojiang Zhang, born in 1964 in Henan Province, is an expert in chemical engineering and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), minoring in ionic liquids and green processes.

Prior to resuming his long relationship with HENU, he graduated a bachelor's degree from the Chemistry Major of Henan University in 1986 and a PhD’s from the Chemistry Major of Zhejiang University in 1994 and received a scholarship from Japan and started his study in Japan in 1995.

He was appointed as the director of the Institute of Process Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2010, became an academician of the CAS in 2015, and served as the dean of the School of Chemical Engineering in University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017.
