To celebrate the 110th anniversary of Henan University (HENU), ‘Years Melodies’ HENU’s 110th Anniversary Concert by HENU Zhishan Choir was held on the evening of May 26. This concert invited staff members and students of HENU to attend, including Vice President Zhen Tan and Vice President Shaokang Xu.
The concert was full of applause with 15 performances presented in four themes: Preface, Hope, Return, and Love, including the choral work Xinxiang, Under the Flower Tree, Take time in life, the female choral work The Great Future, and the male choral work Seamen on the Yellow River.
The concert was also the on-stage fruit of the master program Teaching Cases of Chinese and Foreign Choral Documents and of the reformed course for musicology majors, Chorus Rehearsal for Primary and Secondary Schools.
HENU Zhishan Choir was founded by Jiahai Chen, a famous conductor and composer in China, with Professor Mei Han, deputy dean of the Music School as the head, and Associate Professor Kai Yuan as the conductor. Composed of Chamber Choir, Mixed Chorus, Teaching Chorus, it has held more than 100 special concerts and has won many awards in important choral competitions at home and abroad, such as the World Choir Game, the Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music, and National College and University Student Art Show hosted by the Ministry of Education, PRC.
