The 17^th China Rubber Basic Research Seminar was held in the International Conference Hall of Zhongzhou International Hotel in Kaifeng from December 17 to 19. Nearly 100 scientists, renowned experts, scholars from universities, research institutes and enterprises across the country attended the meeting, including Academician Zhang Liqun,Vice President of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and Professor Zheng Qiang, Secretary of the Party Committee of Taiyuan University of Technology. The meeting was also broadcast live online, with 11,400 views.

Lu Keping, Party Secretary of Henan University, delivered the welcome speech. He said that the seminar is a grand event in the field of basic rubber research and a high-level academic meeting for peers to learn from each other and enhance cooperation. He hoped that scholars from Henan University would seize the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts present and that the experts could support the development of Henan University as always.

Zhang liqun also expressed his gratitude to Henan University for its hard work in organizing this seminar. He hoped that those engaged in the rubber field could continue to carry out in-depth basic rubber research, to promote the development of China's rubber industry.

This seminar was sponsored by the Rubber Institute of Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, Henan University and Henan Chemical Society, and undertaken by College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Henan University and National-Local Joint Engineering Research Center of Nano-hybrid Materials Application Technology. Academician Zhang Liqun and Professor Zhang Zhijun were the chairmen. It consisted of 10 plenary lectures and 47 symposia, and attracted many enterprise participants. In the meeting, experts discussed the frontier, hot issues and development trends of the rubber industry, and the latest results of basic research in the rubber field in China, such as the design and synthesis of high-performance rubber and elastomer which matter to the national economy. The preparation and application of special rubber materials, and the design and preparation of elastomer materials for applications in the fields of life health and artificial intelligence, were also displayed in various forms.
