Xia Jianhui, Deputy Director of the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange, Visits Henan University for Research and Exchange

On April 16, Xia Jianhui, Deputy Director of the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange under the Ministry of Education, led a delegation to Henan University (HENU) for an inspection and exchange visit. Zhang Ligang, Vice President of the university, received the guests at the Longzihu Campus in Zhengzhou. Present at the meeting were heads of the International Affairs Office, the School of International Education, the Eurasian International School, and other relevant departments. The meeting was presided over by Li Qiuye, Executive Deputy Director of the International Affairs Office.

On behalf of the university, Zhang Ligang extended a warm welcome to Xia Jianhui and his delegation, and expressed gratitude to the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), Ministry of Education, for its long-standing care and support for the university's international education initiatives. He reviewed HENU's over 100-year development journey dating back to the founding of the Preparatory School for Further Study in Europe and America in 1912, stressing that a pioneering and open-minded ethos has been embedded in the university since its inception. He noted that in recent years, the university has embraced its new positioning as a research-oriented, comprehensive, and internationalized world-class university and advanced seven fundamental transformations, achieving substantial progress in national-level talent recruitment and cultivation as well as disciplinary restructuring. He added that internationalization has always been a strategic pillar for the university's high-quality development. He looked forward to further expanding and upgrading cooperation with CSCSE in overseas study services and international joint programs, so as to contribute HENU's share to the development of regional higher education and the national strategy of building a strong education sector.

Xia Jianhui thanked HENU for the warm reception and spoke highly of its leapfrog development in recent years. He elaborated on the Center's responsibilities, mission, as well as reform and innovation initiatives in serving the broader drive of education opening-up, and briefed attendees on its work plans for overseas study services and the development of international education exchange platforms. He stated that, building on existing cooperation, the Center stands ready to further deepen collaboration with HENU. Leveraging its diverse programs and high-quality platforms, the Center will support the university in expanding high-level international cooperation, telling HENU's stories well, and steadily enhancing its global competitiveness. Both sides will work in tandem to align overseas study services with the international development of universities.

At the meeting, the two sides engaged in in-depth and detailed exchanges and discussions on topics including education for international students in China and international talent training.

During their visit, Xia Jianhui and his delegation inspected the venue of the China International Education Exhibition Tour at HENU and toured the Longzihu New Energy Laboratory. They gained a thorough understanding of the university's disciplinary strengths and the development of its research platforms.

Both sides agreed that this visit and exchange has further deepened mutual consensus and broadened their horizons. Going forward, the two parties will continue to cooperate closely, learn from each other, and jointly write a new chapter in China's education opening-up.
