On April 16, a delegation led by Viktor Kochin, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalization at Belarusian State University (BSU), paid a visit to Henan University (HENU). Cui Daxiang, Dean of Henan Medical School, received the delegation at the Longzihu Campus in Zhengzhou. Present at the meeting were officials from the International Affairs Office, the Eurasian International School, the School of Journalism and Communication, and other relevant departments.
Dean Cui Daxiang extended a warm welcome to the delegation and briefed them on HENU's history, strategic positioning, and progress in international cooperation. He noted that the university has set the goal of building itself into a research-oriented, comprehensive, and internationalized world-class university. It has rolled out the "9+3" strategy for emerging engineering disciplines and fostered a new pattern featuring coordinated development of arts, science, engineering, and medicine. To date, HENU has established partnerships with 230 universities across nearly 50 countries and regions worldwide. Cui added that the two institutions have jointly run an undergraduate program in Broadcasting and Hosting Arts since 2014. A number of foreign teachers from Belarus have joined the teaching team, bringing students access to international educational resources. He expressed sincere gratitude for their efforts and looked forward to continued support from the Belarusian side. He expressed the hope that both sides would seize opportunities amid China's opening-up in education to deepen practical cooperation in the following aspects: first, refine existing programs to improve education quality and talent cultivation standards; second, expand cooperation to higher levels and more diverse fields; third, scale up two-way exchanges between faculty and students, launch regular student exchange programs, and advance joint research and academic innovation to deliver mutual benefits.
Viktor Kochin expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by HENU. He pointed out that China and Belarus are all-weather comprehensive strategic partners with a solid foundation for educational cooperation. As a top-tier university in Belarus, Belarusian State University attaches great importance to its cooperation with China, and currently hosts 3,500 Chinese international students. Drawing on the decade-long cooperation between the two institutions, Viktor Kochin hoped to further expand areas of collaboration. He proposed exploring more possibilities for joint training programs in science and engineering fields such as physics and information engineering, and bringing fresh ideas to existing cooperative initiatives.
During the exchange session, the two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including the upgrading of ongoing programs, innovation in talent training models, and faculty and student exchanges, and reached a number of consensus points. This event has laid a solid foundation for broader and deeper cooperation between the two universities in the future.
As the premier institution of higher learning in Belarus, Belarusian State University enjoys outstanding strengths in basic sciences as well as humanities and social sciences. Its physics, mathematics, and computer science programs are particularly distinguished, with physics and mathematics ranking among the top across Europe. The university maintains extensive international partnerships, and its academic qualifications are recognized by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange.
Since 2014, the Eurasian International School of HENU and the Faculty of Journalism of Belarusian State University have jointly delivered an undergraduate program in Broadcasting and Hosting Arts. Over the past decade, the program has operated in a standardized and steady manner. Built on a robust cooperative framework, it has achieved remarkable results in talent cultivation.
