Chen Xuebo Leads Delegation on Visit to Japan

From June 9 to 12, Chen Xuebo, Vice President of Henan University (HENU), led a delegation on a visit to Japan, accompanied by heads of the International Affairs Office, the Wushu College and other relevant departments.


On June 9, the delegation visited HighChem Company Limited in Japan and held discussions with its President, Gao Chao, and relevant executives. Gao Chao introduced the history and primary operations of HighChem Company Limited, expressing his expectation for substantive exchanges and early cooperation to achieve mutual benefits. Chen Xuebo outlined HENU’s profile and developments in chemical engineering disciplines, and exchanged views with Gao Chao on bilateral collaboration. He proposed in-depth cooperation in joint research, shared platform development, and postgraduate internships and training.


On June 10, during their visit to the Japan-China College of Culture and Arts, the delegation held talks with Zhang Yongsheng, Chairman of the College, and Zhang Hongwei, Vice President of the College, among others. Zhang Yongsheng introduced the college’s school-running situation and expressed the hope that the two institutions would conduct in-depth exchanges in fields related to traditional Chinese culture such as martial arts and explore cooperation opportunities together. Providing an overview of HENU, Chen Xuebo expressed hope that the two institutions would deepen their cooperation to jointly promote outstanding Chinese culture, thereby contributing positively to forging a bridge for cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and Japan.


On June 11, the delegation visited Hokkaido University. Junya Hasegawa, Assistant to the President of Hokkaido University, hosted an academic symposium. Attendees included leaders from the Institute for Catalysis, the Graduate School of Chemical Sciences and Engineering, along with faculty and student representatives.


Junya Hasegawa introduced the development of Hokkaido University and its chemistry discipline, hoping that the two universities would carry out talent cultivation and joint research in areas of mutual interest. Chen Xuebo delivered an academic report, elaborating on his research and addressing inquiries from the faculty and students on site. He expressed the hope that the two universities would carry out multi-form and in-depth cooperation to jointly promote the collaborative progress of their chemistry disciplines. During the symposium, responsible persons and scholars from both universities delivered reports on their respective research fields, creating a lively atmosphere for on-site exchanges.


On June 12, Junya Hasegawa held discussions with the delegation on inter-university cooperation. The two universities conducted in-depth discussions on intentions such as faculty and student exchanges, exchange students, joint graduate training, and scientific research cooperation, and reached basic consensus.


This visit has further expanded and deepened exchanges between HENU and renowned Japanese universities and enterprises, achieved multiple cooperation intentions, and yielded fruitful exchange results. It has injected new vitality into enhancing HENU’s international profile and advancing the development of a research-intensive, comprehensive, and globally oriented first-class university.
