To further expand high-level scientific and technological cooperation between Henan Province and European countries such as Germany and Greece, and to promote the development of new display materials and related industries in Henan Province, the Academic Forum for Photophysics of Quantum Dot Materials of International Science and Technology Cooperation and High-Level Talent Exchange in Henan Province was successfully held at HENU from October 21st to 23rd. Chen Zhiqiang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Henan Province,, Ji Bo, Party Secretary of Henan University and Professor Gabriel, Chief Scientist of the University of Hamburg, Germany, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The meeting was chaired by Chen Xuebo, Vice President of Henan University. More than 150 experts and researchers from both China and abroad participated in the conference.
Chen Zhiqiang stated that hosting international academic events is an important part of Henan Province’s openness to science and technology cooperation. The International Science and Technology Cooperation and High-Level Talent Exchange in Henan Province, with its strong professionalism and high level, has enabled the participating experts and scholars to engage in in-depth cooperation with Henan in the field of materials, making a positive contribution to accelerating the industrial application of quantum dot materials in the new display field. He expressed the hope that during the event, experts will share their latest research findings, exchange cutting-edge technical concepts, and discuss future development directions. Moreover, he also hoped that technological innovation in the field of quantum dot materials could be further propelled with ideas and wisdom, thereby injecting new vitality into Henan’s international science and technology cooperation and the development of quantum dot materials.
Chen Zhiqiang pointed out that hosting international scientific and technological events is key to scientific and technological cooperation. This event in Henan Province promoted in-depth cooperation with overseas experts in the field of materials, positively impacting the application of quantum dot materials in the display field. He hoped that the experts could share their research achievements, exchange technical concepts and discuss development directions, to promote technological innovation and add new momentum to Henan’s scientific and technological cooperation and the development of quantum dot materials.
In his speech, Ji Bo introduced the profile of HENU, talent team, and progress made in scientific research in recent years. He stated that around the new strategies of national “Double First-Class” and Henan’s “Two Leading Universities” for running schools, HENU has established a new positioning for building a world-class university with international standards. HENU has actively integrated into the construction of the “Belt and Road” educational initiative, achieving certain results in international education and establishing partnerships with more than 200 global higher education institutions and research institutes, including the University of Oxford in the UK. Additionally, he pointed out that relevant teams have cooperated with domestic and foreign experts in the research of quantum dot materials, and have achieved a series of breakthroughs. Meanwhile, he expressed hope that experts would speak freely, exchange the latest achievements, and promote further international exchange and cooperation in the field of quantum dot materials.
Professor Gabriel emphasized the importance of China-Europe cooperation, especially between China and Germany, and pointed out the applications of quantum dot technology in various fields. He called on international researchers to strengthen cooperation, broaden their horizons, and establish transnational technical platforms to facilitate the exchange of innovative ideas and the rapid application of scientific and technological achievements.
The opening ceremony also featured HENU’s Appointment Ceremony for Distinguished Foreign Experts, where Professor Gabriel from University of Hamburg, Germany, Professor Sotirios from University of Patras, Greece, and Professor Georgios from the University of Athens, Greece were appointed as Distinguished Professors of Henan University.
The conference also invited more than ten experts, including Professor Christos from the University of Patras, Greece and Professor Ren Xinguo from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, to share academic reports. The experts conducted in-depth exchanges on the current status, existing problems, and development directions of research in fields such as precise control of biomedical quantum dots. Following the conference, a workshop was organized to discuss the development plan for the International Joint Laboratory of Quantum Dots (in preparation) as well as applications for Sino-European international cooperation programs and personnel exchanges.
