On April 27, 2023, the Home by the Yellow River - Exhibition of Oil Paintings by Haifeng Yang was grandly opened at the National Art Museum of China. The opening ceremony was attended by the Vice President Zhen Tan and responsible personnel of the Propaganda Department and the Fine Arts College of Henan University (HENU). The ceremony also invited more than 100 scholars, artists and critics to attend, who are from the China Artists Association, China National Academy of Painting, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, and Chinese National Academy of Arts.

At the ceremony, Zhen Tan pointed out that artists of HENU like Haifeng Yang have been deeply exploring the value of the Yellow River culture in the new era, better spreading the story of the Yellow River. She said that the Exhibition would have an important impact on art creation and art education in HENU.

Hui Shang, director of the Fine Arts Theory Committee of the China Artists Association and director of the China Oil Painting Society, pointed out that the landscape of the Yellow River in Haifeng Yang's paintings told his exploration from the countryside to the city, revealing the localization process of oil paintings on regions along the Yellow River, where Chinese civilization started.

Jie Liu, vice chairman of the Henan Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and chairman of the Henan Artists Association, said that Haifeng Yang was a representative of young oil painters in Henan, who tried to tell the story of the Yellow River and Henan Province through paintings. It is hoped that through this Exhibition, all Chinese people could feel the profound Central Plains culture and appreciate the charm of the Central Plains painting style.

Following the opening ceremony was an academic seminar on the exhibition. At the meeting, experts discussed the oil paintings by Haifeng Yang in terms of the theme and the artistic characteristics, and talked about the exploration of Chinese contemporary oil painting art with rural themes.

This Exhibition displayed more than 60 oil paintings by Haifeng Yang, associate professor of the Fine Arts College and a young artist. With the theme of “Home by the Yellow River”, the Exhibition depicted the natural and cultural landscape of the Yellow River, and showed the daily life and customs of people living by the Yellow River. The Exhibition lasted until May 9, 2023.
