The Signing Ceremony for the Cooperation between Henan University (HENU) and the Institute of Farmland Irrigation of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and the Inauguration Ceremony of the Extramural Postgraduate Tutors of the School of Agriculture was held in Jinming Campus on the afternoon of March 9^th.

The ceremony, presided over by Lei Wang, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Agriculture, was attended by Guomin Zhou, director of the Institute of Farmland Irrigation of CAAS, Xuebin Qi, deputy director of the Institute, and Xuelu Wang, vice president of HENU. Participants also included leaders and teachers form the Institute, the Graduate School of HENU, the Science and Technology Research Institute of HENU, the State Key Laboratory of Cotton Biology and the State Key Laboratory of Crop Stress Adaptation and Improvement, as well as leaders and academic backbones from the School of Agriculture.

Xuelu Wang indicated that this strategic agreement would definitely have a significant and far-reaching impact on the agricultural technology innovation in Henan. In addition, he put forward five respects worth the university paramount attention: the essence of major scientific issues, the construction of basic scientific and technological platforms, the training of high-end talents, the training of new agricultural talents, and the promotion and application of outstanding technological achievements.

Guomin Zhou believed that this cooperation could be a great opportunity for cultivating agricultural talents, enabling further cooperation and platform sharing, through joint efforts by the Institute of Farmland Irrigation and Henan University. He expected that major progress could be reached to promote scientific and technological innovation, through close contacts and cooperation on scientific research.

Xuebin Qi pointed out that the signing of the cooperation agreement meant the start of an official cooperation that is alive and comprehensive, which is expected to yield more achievements.

Chen Miao, executive vice dean of the Graduate School of HENU, introduced the joint training program for graduate students in the University. Binbin Hu, president of the Science and Technology Research Institute of HENU, promised to offer active support for the cooperation. Daojie Wang, executive dean of the School of Agriculture, gave an address about the situation of scientific cooperation between the two parties.

Then, Guomin Zhou signed an agreement with Xuelu Wang on behalf both parties. Xuelu Wang granted 14 experts and academic backbones of the Irrigation Institute certificates that proved them the extramural postgraduate tutors of the School of Agriculture of HENU.

Both sides conducted further communication on cooperative projects after the ceremony.
