ZHANG Suojiang Attends the 12th China-Japan Symposium on Chemical Engineering

From October 17 to 19, the 12th China-Japan Symposium on Chemical Engineering was held in Zhengzhou, centered on the theme “Green, Low-Carbon, and Sustainable Chemical Science and Technology”. Academician ZHANG Suojiang, President of Henan University (HENU), attended the symposium and delivered the opening address. More than 500 experts and scholars from China and Japan engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on cutting-edge advances in chemical science and technology.

ZHANG Suojiang noted that the China-Japan Symposium on Chemical Engineering was first held in 2000. Over the past two decades, scientists from the two countries have not only explored major scientific questions but also forged profound friendships through academic exchanges. He highlighted that HENU recently established the School of Energy Science and Technology, which has achieved significant innovations in key fields such as new energy and new materials. He expressed his hope that the symposium would further strengthen collaboration with Japanese partners and contribute to building a beautiful world. As President of the Japan Chapter of the Western Returned Scholars Association, he called for the association and the China-Japan chemical engineering community to serve as a stronger bridge. He emphasized their role in uniting scientific and technological talents who studied in Japan, both domestically and internationally, and in continuously promoting academic exchange and cooperation between the two countries.

During the symposium, Chinese and Japanese scholars focused on key areas such as energy chemical engineering and fine chemicals, where they exchanged insights on the latest research findings, technological innovations, and industrial practices. As one of the highest-level academic events in the chemical engineering community of both countries, this year’s symposium brought together leading experts from China and Japan. The outcomes not only deepened bilateral cooperation but also contributed Asian wisdom to the global advancement of chemical science and technology.

HENU fully leveraged its strengths in energy chemical engineering by actively participating in the planning and organization of the symposium, demonstrating the HENU’s research capabilities and commitment to societal service. During the event, Japanese experts and a number of domestic scholars visited HENU for academic exchanges. Guided by the symposium consensus, HENU will explore new pathways to advance the modern energy chemical industry toward high-end, diversified, and low-carbon development, thereby injecting new momentum into the green transition of the chemical engineering sector across China, Japan, and beyond.
