Workshop on Applied Macroeconomics Held at HENU

On September 12-13, the 8th HenU/INFER Workshop on Applied Macroeconomics was held at Jinming Campus of Henan University (HENU). The event attracted nearly 50 scholars and experts from China and abroad, with special support from the internationally renowned economics journal Macroeconomic Dynamics.


At the morning opening ceremony on September 12, ZHANG Ligang, Vice President of HENU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He expressed a warm welcome to all participants on behalf of HENU and outlined HENU’s recent developments, emphasizing his hope that the conference would serve as an effective platform for exchanging ideas and disseminating knowledge. CHENG Jinhui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Economics, highlighted the school’s achievements in disciplinary development and internationalization, along with an overview of INFER Workshop. The opening ceremony was presided over by Makram El-Shagi, Distinguished Professor appointed under Henan University Special Talent Zone Support Program.


During the keynote speech session, Professor Harald Uhlig from the University of Chicago (USA) presented on Digital Currency, while Professor Yi Wen from Shanghai Jiao Tong University delivered a report titled China’s Industrial Revolution: Past, Present, and Future. Subsequently, scholars from institutions including the University of Nottingham (UK), University of Nebraska (USA), Hitotsubashi University (Japan), Peking University, and Tsinghua University presented their research across 13 parallel sessions.


The HenU/INFER Workshop on Applied Macroeconomics has now been successfully held eight times. Dedicated to fostering international exchange and collaboration in macroeconomic research, the conference has established itself as an academic platform rooted in central China with a global vision, committed to gathering insights and sharing knowledge in service of key socioeconomic development priorities.
