Recently, the Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs of the Ministry of Education announced the Notice on the Approval of 2025 Faculty & Student Exchange Programs between Higher Education Institutions in Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong and Macao. Two programs submitted by Henan University (HENU) had been successfully approved.

The "Ten Thousand Talents Program" aims to strengthen educational collaboration between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong/Macao. It supports faculty and students from Hong Kong and Macao to conduct studies, internships, and research activities in the Chinese mainland. The "Historical Architecture Investigation Workshop" applied by the HENU's School of Civil Engineering and Architecture and Macau University of Science and Technology focuses on preservation of historical buildings and advances regional cooperation through field surveys and academic discussions. The "Research on the Evaluation and Support System of Students' Mathematical and Scientific Literacy" applied by the HENU's Faculty of Education and the University of Hong Kong aims to compare and integrate the assessment systems between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and develop scientific education evaluation models with Chinese characteristics to enhance students' comprehensive competencies.

This was the first time that HENU had been approved for the programs. The implementation of the two programs will further promote academic exchanges between HENU and universities in Hong Kong and Macao.
