From December 6th to 8th, the National Academic Symposium on “Plant Stress Adaptation and Green Agricultural Development” was held at the Jinming Campus of Henan University (HENU). The conference was co-hosted by the Botanical Society of Henan and HENU, and jointly organized by multiple laboratories and colleges. Academician Xu Weigang and Professor Song Chunpeng served as the directors of the conference’s academic committee, while Vice President Miao Yuchen served as the director of the organizing committee.
Professor Shang Fude, chairman of the Botanical Society of Henan, Professor Xue Bo, Vice President of HENU, Professor Zhang Xiao, Vice President of Zhengzhou University of Light Industry, Professor Hu Yiliang, Secretary-General of the Botanical Society of Henan, and relevant officials of HENU attended the opening ceremony. Over 100 scientific researchers and teachers from research institutions and universities across the country participated in the conference. Professor Xue Bo and Professor Shang Fude delivered speeches, and Professor Zhou Shutang, director of the National Key Laboratory of Cotton Bio-breeding and Integrated Utilization (HENU), presided over the opening ceremony of the conference.
Themed with “Plant Stress Adaptation and Green Agricultural Development”, The conference covered topics such as the regulatory mechanisms of plant environmental adaptation, research directions of crop stress resistance, and improving crop stress resistance and agricultural production efficiency. Academician Xu Weigang, Professor Ru Zhen’gang, among other experts, delivered keynote reports. During the conference, experts shared their research progress and exchanged scientific insights, creating a robust academic atmosphere.
This conference, themed “Plant Stress Adaptation and Green Agricultural Development”, explored the regulatory mechanisms of plant environmental adaptation and the future research directions of crop stress resistance, and sought to enhance the comprehensive stress resistance of crops and agricultural production efficiency, protect the sustainable development of the ecological environment, and address the global agricultural challenges. Academician Xu Weigang from the Henan Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Professor Ru Zhen’gang from Henan Institute of Science and Technology delivered keynote reports at the conference. Professor Jin Shuangxia, a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars from Huazhong Agricultural University, Professor Mao Tonglin, a recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars from China Agricultural University, Professor Guo Wangzhen from Nanjing Agricultural University, and other experts made presentations at the conference. Professor Hu Zhubing, the executive editor-in-chief of the New Crops journal, introduced the construction and development plan of the journal to the attending experts. At the conference, experts shared the latest research progress and exchanged research experiences, creating a strong academic atmosphere.
In addition, the conference included a special session for young scholars and graduate students, where ten young scholars/students from Hunan Hybrid Rice Research Center, Guizhou University, and key laboratories of HENU delivered impressive presentations.
The symposium facilitated the exchange of new findings, ideas, and methods in plant stress adaptation and green agriculture development. Meanwhile, it broadened the research perspectives of scientists and significantly stimulated experts’ contemplation on crucial scientific and technological issues related to crop stress resistance and stable and high-yield production. As a result, it provided new insights into strengthening the study of crop stress resistance mechanisms and designing “super-resistant crops”.
