Xuelu Wang is a distinguished professor and doctoral supervisor at Henan University.
Professor Wang had abundant scientific research experience in Life Science in the United States before his return to China. His Ph.D thesis was completed at the University of Arizona in 2000, immediately after which, he carried out his postdoctoral research at Howard Hughes Medical Institute till 2006.
Upon the completion of his postdoc research, Wang flew back to China and chose to start his career at Fudan University in 2007. He was devoted to scientific research, especially intellectually challenging tasks, which gained Wang vital skills fitted for higher management positions. Indeed, the position “Dean of School of Life Sciences” was offered by Huazhong Agricultural University to Wang in 2014, which gave him a chance to challenge himself in a new managerial role. In 2020, he was invited by the Board of Committee of Henan University (HENU) to guide the State Key Laboratory of Crop Stress Adaptation and Improvement and more importantly, taking the role of the vice president of the entire university.
Until now, Professor Wang has never ceased to dig deeper in his research fields, which earns him and the university he is working for a huge pride. 50 important research papers appeared in international mainstream journals such as Science, Development Cell(5), PNAS(5), Nature Communications, Elife, Genes & Development, Plant Cell(2), Molecular Plant(9) and New Phytology (2) and highly-cited more than 3,000 times.
Besides, Wang has been granted a great number of international and national-level programs and projects, namely the integration project of NSFC, "973" project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the key special project of intergovernmental international scientific and technological innovation cooperation, "Pujiang Project" in Shanghai, the Excellent Academic Leader Project in Shanghai, the "Agricultural Outstanding Talents and Innovation Team" of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Wang’s research competency and his endless contributions to national talent development earned him the award of "Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contributions" in the National Million Talents Project in 2015 and special government allowances from the State Council in 2016. .
