Abstract of report:Mobile visual food recognition has received increasing attention in recent years due to its emerging role in dietary monitoring and health management. The aim of mobile visual food recognition is to recognize food dishes from pictures taken using portable devices such as mobile phones/tablets, analyze them and monitor the dietary intakes of the users. This talk will discuss recent advances in visual food recognition using AI. It will outline various challenges in designing such systems and highlight some AI solutions that address these challenges. The talk will also introduce different deep learning models and architectures to achieve good recognition performance while retaining a small memory footprint.
