HAN Jisheng

HAN Jisheng

Han Jisheng, male, born in July 1928 in Xiaoshan, Zhejiang Province, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, graduated from the Medical Department of Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University in 1953, a neurophysiologist, an internationally renowned pain expert, and a pioneer of pain medicine in China. He is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor in Department of Neurobiology, Peking University, director of Institute of Neuroscience, chairman of Pain Branch of Chinese Medical Association, international consultant of Education Committee of International Pain Society, and chairman of China Branch of International Pain Society. In 1984, he was rated as a national scientist with outstanding contributions. In 1990, he began to enjoy the special government allowance granted by the State Council. In 1993, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 1965, he has been engaged in the research of acupuncture principle, and achieved the leading position in the world in the neurochemical mechanism of acupuncture analgesia, and stood in the international frontier in the interaction mechanism between central opioid peptide and antiplatelet peptide. Neurostimulation therapy has opened up a new field in the treatment of heroin addiction. He has published more than 500 papers in magazines and monographs at home and abroad, compiled 9 Chinese monographs, 1 English textbook, and won more than 20 awards at or above the provincial level, including the third prize of National Natural Science, the second prize of National Natural Science, the third prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, He Liang He Li Science and Technology Progress Award, etc. Moreover, he has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Research Fund for 12 consecutive years and has been invited to give lectures to over 100 universities and research institutions in 27 countries and regions for over 200 times. In 1985, he was awarded the “Outstanding Neuroscience Scholarship” jointly funded by the International Brain Research Organization and the American Neuroscience Foundation, and was elected as an international academician of the Royal College of Lund, Sweden, a member of the Education Committee of the International Pain Research Association (IASP) (1991-1995) and the President of the Chinese Branch (1989-), and served as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Society for the Study of Narcotic Drugs (INRC) for two times.
