From July 17th to 19th, the 11th International Conference on Operation and Supply Chain Management was held in our college. This grand conference was co-organized by Business School of Henan University, Modern Logistics Institute of Henan University, Association of Supply Chain and Operations Management, CEIBS-GLP Center of Innovations in Supply Chain and service, and China Europe International Business School. Nearly 200 professional scholars, goverment officials and entrepreneurs attended the conference, which were from more than nine Countries, such as America, UK, Canada, Japan, Netherlands, Chile, New Zealand, Malaysia, China and so on. The theme of the conference is entrepreneurial supply chain management with limited resources and sustainable development, which had been discussed extensively and in-deathly.
On the morning of July 17th, opening ceremony of the conference was organized at Conference Hall of Business School on the 2th floor. Prof. Wang X, dean of Business School of Henan University, presided the opening ceremony. Prof. Yuangong Lou, the president of Henan University, gave the conference opening speech. He introduced the history of Henan University and the achievements we had worked out recent years, and emphasized the Business School’s contribution to the construction of Henan Free Trade Experimental Zone and Zhengzhou Airport Economic Comprehensive Experimental Area. He gave his best wishes for completeness and success in the end.
Then, Ms Hong Hou, the mayor of Kaifeng, gave the sincerely welcome to the coming specialists as the representative of Kaifeng. She emphasized that scholars’ thought and intelligence is very important to the regional economic development. She hoped that the scholars of Henan University positively engaged into Kaifeng’s economic development and made the new brilliant performance along with the ancient city. She expected that all of the specialists could give their advices for logistics development of Kaifeng, according to Kaifeng’s location advantage as a part of central region of China.
On the opening ceremony, Prof. Xiande Zhao, professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management at CEIBS and Director of CEIBS-GLP Centre of Innovations in Supply Chain and Service, also gave an excellent speech. He said, with the great help of colleges and enterprises from China and foreign countries, the annual Operations and Supply Chain Management Conference creates more and more international effects for its high-profile performance on theories and practices. This conference would promote the modern logistics development through the crash of culture and academic thought between China and the West.
During the conference, a series of valuable academic reports were specially arranged. The lecturers include Professor Ramakrishnan Ramanathan( Bedford University of UK), Professor Song Hua ( Renmin University of China ), Aijuan Han (vice-president of Henan Bonded Groups), Kasra Ferdows ( Georgetown University of America )and Doctor Mark A. Jacobs ( Dayton University of America ). They made their report on different subjects such as Big-Data and Internet of things based on sustainable operations and supply chain management, the effects of finance institutions and banks on medium-sized and small enterprises’ financing practices, the informatization and integration of international logistics supply chain, the evolution of enterprises’ production network, the influence on innovation from supply chain learning, the inspiration of the cost of supply base and so on.
There were also nineteen parallel sessions, including special seminar, industry-academic interaction discussion, youth scholar forums, dialogue with the periodical editors, etc. The topics contained a number of aspects, such as supply chain integration and innovation, sustainable supply chain, supply chain finance, techniques management of operations and supply chain management, uncertainty and risk management, quality management of operations and supply chain. In the supply chain finance session, the conventioneers had an extra video conference with the specialists form America, Netherlands, Chile and other countries.
The international conference on operations and supply chain management is a very important platform for the scholars from all over the world discussing and communicating with each other in the field of operations and supply chain management. It was the eleventh this year and always undertook by Business School of famous international universities.
