The 3rd Henan Young Scientists Forum was successfully held from September 25th to 26th. Six academicians, including Li Jinghong, You Shuli, and Gu Ning from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as Wang Jiayao, Zhang Xiaoye, and Chen Zhinan from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, were invited to participate in this forum. 34 notable scholars, including Li Mingzhu, attended the forum and delivered reports. Wang Xinhui, Party Secretary of the Henan Association for Science and Technology, and Ji Bo, Party Secretary of HENU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Yang Xueyong from the Education Department Henan Province, Cao Guijin from the Henan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, among others, also attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony was presided over by Vice Chairman Li Jifeng.
Academicians and experts were invited for the forum, themed Converging Youth Innovation Power to Empower the Construction of National Innovation Hubs, to share their insights and establish a platform for the exchange of young scientific talents, guiding them to play a significant role in the construction of innovation hubs. The forum comprised one main forum and four sub-forums, facilitating discussions on biology, chemistry, geography, medicine, and other fields, attracting attention from all sectors of society and receiving an enthusiastic response from young scientific workers.
Wang Xinhui congratulated HENU on its 112th anniversary and emphasized the crucial role of young scientists in achieving technological self-reliance, strengthening innovation and constructing innovation hubs. He mentioned that young scientific workers should deeply study the spirit of the Party and the deployments of the provincial committee, and undertake the mission of serving the country through science and technology. Wang Xinhui pointed out that the Association for Science and Technology pays special attention to the growth of young scientific workers and is committed to improving the cultivation mechanisms for innovative young talents. He stressed that the forum provides opportunities for young scientists to showcase and exchange ideas, which is conducive to expanding their academic horizons and promoting innovation. Finally, he encouraged young scientists to remain steadfast in their beliefs, be bold in innovation, strengthen cooperation, and jointly foster development.
Ji Bo introduced the overview of HENU, its governance and educational system, as well as its achievements in technological innovation. He pointed out that the opening day of the forum coincided with the 112th anniversary celebration of HENU. HENU is committed to a talent development strategy, places great emphasis on the cultivation of young scientists, actively recruits talents, and implements internal training programs. It strives to create an excellent research and innovation environment, builds a comprehensive talent policy system, and fully supports the development of young talents. He expressed his hope that by leveraging the Young Scientists Forum and providing a high-quality platform for exchange, further growth of young talents could be promoted.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Li Yunhe from HENU issued a call to action for young scientific and technological workers across the province, encouraging them to unite, be brave in innovation and problem-solving, and dedicate themselves to building the nation’s innovation centers. He urged young scientific talents to reach a consensus on innovation, actively participate in innovative activities, face challenges courageously, maintain their patriotic sentiments, inherit and carry forward the spirit of scientists, contribute their scientific achievements to the country, and offer their wisdom and strength towards achieving independent and powerful technology.
Over 800 representatives of young scientific and technological workers from the Central Plains Talent Program, provincial societies, universities, research institutions, as well as faculty and student representatives from HENU, participated in the forum.
