On October 14, the 8th China Conference on Translational Medicine & Precision Medicine was held in Kaifeng, Henan. Xiang Gao, director of the Research Office II of the Health Human Resources Development Center of the National Health Commission of China, delivered a congratulatory speech. Later, Xiangdong Zhang, vice president of HENU, delivered a welcome speech. Jicheng Li, dean of the School of Basic Medical Sciences of HENU, delivered an opening speech.
At the Conference, Xiang Gao said that the Conference was themed on “Promoting the Transformation of Results, Connecting Precision Medicine, and Serving Human Health.” It is hoped that the Conference could gather experts’ opinions on medical science and technology innovation, achievement transformation, and precision medicine so as to promote the development of translational medicine in China.
Xiangdong Zhang expressed that HENU has always been committed to promoting scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation. He confirmed that HENU has achieved a series of achievements in basic research and the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in the fields of COVID-19, tumors, cardiovascular diseases, and major chronic diseases. He expected that teachers and students of HENU as well as participating experts and scholars would discuss the development plan of translational and precision medicine and jointly enhance the innovation capability of talents in medical science and technology through this Conference.
Later, Jicheng Li said that both translational medicine and precision medicine are revolutions in the field of medicine in the 21st century. He hoped that through the Conference, all participating experts and colleagues could have a discussion on clinical hotspots such as tumor immunotherapy, research on cell and gene functions of diseases, and biomedical big data, share opinions on the development of transitional medicine and precision medicine, and share practical experience in transformation.
The Conference lasted for three days and invited many leading scholars to attend. At the main venue, more than 10 well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad delivered wonderful special reports, including Academician Honghao Zhou at Xiangya Hospital Central South University, Academician Runsheng Chen of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Academician Jinsong Li of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Apart from the main venue, there were three sub-venues for the New Technology and Training of the National Natural Science Foundation, Cell Gene Therapy, and Medical Education. At these sub-venues, Professor Daxiang Cui, vice president of HENU, Professor Qingfeng Yan and Professor Marong Fang of Zhejiang University, and other experts and scholars presented 22 academic reports, attracting more than 900 experts, scholars, and medical workers from home and abroad to share opinions and promote development.
