From September 23 to 24, the 2023 Conference for Functional Materials and Chemistry was held in Zhengzhou. Themed on functional materials and chemistry, the Conference invited well-known domestic scholars to discuss new ideas for the future development of functional materials. The Conference was attended by nearly 30 experts, including Professor Zhibo Li, vice president of Qingdao University of Science and Technology, Professor Yu Liu from Nankai University, and Researcher Minghua Liu from the Institute of Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences. They also gave academic reports at the Conference. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Feng Bai, executive dean of the School of Materials of Henan University (HENU).

Liang Qiao, vice president of HENU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He expressed his gratitude to experts and scholars for their long-term support for the scientific research construction and development of HENU. He expressed his wishes that further cooperation would be made in academic exchanges and talent training in the future so that the development of scientific research and education would be promoted.

Professor Zuliang Du, director of the Key Lab for Special Functional Materials of the Ministry of Education, introduced how the School of Materials was established. Then he thanked the young scholars for joining HENU and especially thanked the experts for their contributions to the development of science and technology and talent cultivation in the Central Plains.

At the Conference, experts gave a series of academic reports on functional materials, ligand structure, and biomimetic materials. The participants had in-depth exchanges, shared opinions on relevant academic issues, and talked about the future development trends of supramolecular-based functional materials.
