Recently, the 2023 Best Chinese Majors Ranking was released, according to which the discipline of History of China of Henan University (HENU) ranked 10th among universities in China with a quantitative score of 525, among the top 9% in China. The ranking ascends 6 places compared with the same period last year, with points and rankings being the first place among all disciplines in HENU.

Founded in 1925, the discipline of History of China at HENU has a long history. It has fostered numerous famous teachers. Now it has cultivated distinctive and advantageous discipline fields, including the history of Pre-Qin Period, the history of Qin and Han Dynasties, the history of Song Dynasty, the history of Ming and Qing Dynasties, the history of modern China, and the Yellow River Civilization study. Now, there are a series of key scientific research platforms, including the Ancient Chinese History Research Center, the Research Center for China Modern Social Transformation and the Song Culture Research Institute. The discipline currently covers more than 40 members, 24 of who are professors and associate professors. In the past five years, the discipline has been approved to carry out 9 major projects under the National Social Science Fund of China, 5 key projects, and more than 20 general and youth projects. It has more than 200 CSSCI papers and 70 academic books published by People’s Publishing House, Zhonghua Book Company, or Joint Publishing.
