On the morning of August 24, the Second Yazhou International Youth Scholars Forum opened at the Science and Technology City of Yazhou Bay, Sanya. This Forum included 1 main forum and 13 sub-forums, conducted simultaneously online and offline.
Eight guests jointly launched this Forum, including Jingquan Yu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Stefan Schwarz, academician of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, as well as leaders from provincial and municipal universities and scientific research units. Lei Zhang, deputy secretary-general of the government of Sanya City, said in his speech that Sanya had been focusing on the strategy of strengthening the city with talents and working to achieve high-quality development through talent resources. He commented that the city would continue to increase the introduction and development of high-end talents. Ruiming Ge, deputy director of the Administration of the City of Science and Technology of Yazhou Bay, said that the City had been promoting integrations between industry and education, science and education, and a collaborative mode of education in order to better serve the revitalization of the seed industry and the construction of maritime power.
Later, five representatives of outstanding young talents settling in the City, including Professor Xiaolong Ke from the Sanya Institute of HENU, gave opinions on hot topics young talents concerned about, such as scientific research experience, career development, and life and work security in the City.
On the afternoon of August 24, the HENU Sanya Institute Sub-forum was held in the Innovation Research Valley. At the conference, Xuelu Wang, vice president of Henan University, introduced the main achievements in the development of Sanya Institute in terms of organizational structure, teaching staffs, and scientific research. He sincerely hoped that all young scholars would gather in Sanya to provide a strong support for the "double first-class" construction of Henan University and to contribute to the national food security strategy. After that, young scholars from high-level universities at home and abroad, such as the University of Groningen and the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, as well as teacher representatives from the resident teams, presented academic achievements of cutting-edge research in the subject field.
