The "My China Story - My Story of Chinese Culture International Short Video Competition", sponsored by the China International Communications Group and the Information Office of the Shandong Provincial People's Government, was recently held. At the Competition, the short video Menghua from Henan University won the third prize. It was made by the International School for Chinese Language and Culture under the guidance of Xiaolong Gu, a teacher from the School of Journalism and Communication. It was the only award-winning work in Henan Province among more than 8,000 university works collected from more than 40 countries.
On February 23, the award ceremony of the Competition was held in Jining, Shandong Province. Jie Yang, an international student counselor from the International School for Chinese Language and Culture, along with Bianjing Liu and Yici Lin, international students from the International School for Chinese Language and Culture, were invited to receive the award. At the ceremony, Bianjing Liu performed the opera I See My Old Mother Kneeling at the Golden Palace, an excerpt from Henan Opera Da Deng Dian, receiving huge applause.
Menghua was created based on the hit drama A Dream of Splendor, which showed the delicious food in Dongjing, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty. The video tells the story of Bianjing Liu, a Cameroonian student in Kaifeng, looking for delicacies from the Northern Song Dynasty in Kaifeng. The short video vividly shows the profound cultural connotations and urban charms of Kaifeng.
