On November 18, 2022, the First Yazhou International Young Scholars Forum was held in Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City. Comprising 1 main forum and 12 sub-forums, the Forum, held online and offline, is a platform for attendants to conduct in-depth discussions on the leading industries of the science and technology city, such as deep-sea technology and seed industry. With sub-forums held in institutes of participatory colleges and universities, the Forum invited outstanding young scholars to conduct academic exchanges and negotiations, helping with the cultivation of talents.
At the main forum, Ruiming Ge, deputy director of Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Administration, delivered a speech. He said that the Science and Technology City has been contributing to technological innovation and industrial development. At present, there are a total of 12 postgraduate units in the Science and Technology City, involving more than 2,500 master’s students and doctoral students, and more than 600 S&T talents led by 26 academicians.
Later, Peisong Hu, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and director of the China National Rice Research Institute, made a report, in which he shared opinions on technological innovation and his team's recent research results on rice.
In the afternoon, the HENU Sanya Institute Sub-forum was held in the Wutong Institute of the Science and Technology City. Young scholars from Stanford University, University of Bern, China Agricultural University and other high-level universities and research institutions at home and abroad, as well as academic leaders in biology, joined in the conference online for academic exchanges. The Sub-forum also invited Professor Chunpeng Song, director of the State Key Laboratory of Crop Stress Adaptation and Improvement, and Professor Xuelu Wang, vice president of Henan University, as well as other experts to attend.
There was a total of 50 young scholars applying for attending this Sub-forum, 20 of whom participated in the Sub-forum and 8 of whom made keynote speeches. They conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions around the research and results that they have achieved. The interview expert group headed by Professor Chunpeng Song gave comments and scores to related items, and answered questions from young scholars.
The Sub-forum helped a number of young scholars cooperate and sign agreements with the Institute.
