Foreign Studies holds a forum to celebrate its 10th anniversary

On October 20, the editorial department of Foreign Studies held a forum to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the publication. The Forum invited Professor Junjian Sun, vice president of HENU, and 12 editors-in-chief from China's major foreign language journals, including Kefei Wang, Dingfang Shu, Ping Yang, and Yongping Ran, to attend online. Its on-site participants included Professor Chaojun Yang, the dean of the School of Foreign Languages of HENU, the editor-in-chief of Foreign Studies, and the director of editorial department, Professor Qiaohui Li, the executive director of editorial department, Dr. Jian Hou, and some other members of the editorial department.

At the Forum, Junjian Sun delivered an opening speech. He showed sincere gratitude to the experts for their long-term strong support for the development of HENU. He also expressed his wish that Foreign Studies could continue to develop based on the reality with an international view, and attach great importance to the cutting-edge development and innovative achievements at home and abroad, in order to be more authoritative and more popular, contributing more to academic development.

Experts believe that the academic research of foreign language majors should be conducted on the national level, promoting China's academic development. Academic journals should publish the latest research results and be responsible for promoting the development of the discipline and cultivating academic talents. At the same time, academic journals should be clear on positioning and contents, have more chance to spread, and form stable authors and readers.

Through a review of the founding of Foreign Studies in 2013 and the experiences over the past decade, Jian Hou, the editorial representative, analyzed the opportunities and challenges in journal editing and dissemination, and summarized what he learned from Foreign Studies.

Chaojun Yang showed sincere gratitude to the experts for their support for the Forum. He said that the speeches of the experts gave a review of the development history of foreign language journals, proposed the path to the future development of the journals, and also pointed out a correct way to the future of Foreign Studies. He believed that Foreign Studies will continue to improve in practice, striving to achieve further progress.
