The 2020 National Science and Technology Award Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on the morning of November 3. The program “Key Technology and Application for Intelligent Map Synthesis and Multi-scale Cascade Update” earned Henan University the second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award, with Academician Jiayao WANG as the chief of the program and Professor Fen QIN as a key program participant.

The multi-scale topographic map database is a crucial part of the national spatial data infrastructure and plays a fundamental role in many fields in China as spatial resources. Through years of systematic research, the key technologies for the intelligent map synthesis and multi-scale cascade update have been proposed and developed based on this program, which solved some international problems in his field, thereby improving China's development of national spatial data infrastructure, and enhancing the country’s international competitiveness in geographic information industry.
