A great gathering celebrating the centenary of the Communist Party of China(CPC) was held at Jinming Campus on June 30 morning. LU Keping, Secretary of Henan University’s Party Committee, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Other leaders of the Party Committee also were present at the ceremony presided over by ZHANG Baoming, the Deputy Secretary of HENU’s Party committee. More than 400 people, including representatives of advanced collectives and outstanding individuals, teachers and students, gathered together to celebrate the 100^th anniversary of the founding of the CPC.

On behalf of the Party Committee, LU Keping awarded commemorative medals to CPC members bearing five decades of Party membership and having consistently performed well in their roles. The representatives of the new Party members saluted the honorable recipients by presenting flowers.

ZHANG Yulin, the recipient of the commemorative medal and a retired teacher of School of Chinese Language and Literature, expressed his excitement at receiving the medal and his infinite reverence and best wishes for the Party.

Later, Vice President LIU Zhijun read out the list of collectives and individuals to be honored by Party organizations at higher levels in 2021, as well as the decision of HENU on the recognition of outstanding Party members, exemplary Party workers and advanced primary-level Party organizations.

As a representative of outstanding party members, HU Pengyuan, a teacher of School of Journalism and Communication, shared his experience in cultivating party spirit in his work and of actively contributing his wisdom and strength to the university’s “Double First-Class” construction.

Representing the exemplary Party workers, ZHANG Fenglin, Vice Dean of School of Marxism, introduced the innovative practices of construction in his Party branch.

ZHENG Hongtao, the Party Secretary of School of Environment and Planning, shared some achievements in strengthening and improving the Party building on behalf of the advanced primary-level Party organizations.

Subsequently, a ceremony for new Party members taking the admission oath and all Party members reviewing the admission oath was held. Following LU Keping, all the participants faced the party flag and took a solemn oath with their right fists raised.

In his speech, LU Keping emphasized that given its the long, arduous journey, our Party is ready to take the centenary as a new start. At the same time, considering the actual situation of the university, he put forward clear requirements and higher expectations for the “Double First-Class” construction. To achieve this goal, he inspired us to reinforce our ideals and convictions, improve the political level in work, and transform the ideological motivation brimmed in outstanding individuals and advanced collectives into practical actions to perform our duties, and revitalize HENU by building it a world-class university.

After the ceremony, ZHANG Baoming and leaders being in charge of the Organization Department of HENU’s Party Committee and the Office of Retirement Affairs had a discussion with the representatives of veteran Party members and retired cadres.

At the symposium, ZHANG Baoming stated that attaching great importance to retired cadres, HENU will continue to do well the work related to retired cadres. It is appreciated and welcome that retired cadres, an important talent pool, put forward valuable opinions and suggestions on the construction and development of the university, and give full play to their wisdom and strength.
