On the morning of October 25, Professor Li Weifang hosted the proposal and academic seminar of the “Sorting and Comparative Research of Shakespeare's Plays”, a major project funded by the National Social Science Fund of China.

President Song Chunpeng made an opening speech and said that School of Chinese Language and Literature of Henan University had traditional superior disciplines in China, which produced a series of profound academic achievements. Song expressed his gratitude to the experts for their dedicated support and careful guidance, and licensed the “Shakespeare and Intercultural Research Center of Henan University”.

Liu Hui from Henan Provincial Social Science Planning Office, and President Gu Zhengkun from Shakespeare Research Institute of Chinese Society of Foreign Literature, gave specific suggestions on the feasibility of the project.

At the seminar, Li Weifang, the chief expert of the project, gave a brief report on the origin, research framework, research ideas and other issues of the project. Members of the project reported on the research progress of sub-projects.

In review session, Professor Geng Youzhuang from Renmin University of China and Professor He Chengzhou from Nanjing University remarked that this topic was excellent by filling research gaps in this field, and suggested insightfully on operational issues. After discussion, the thesis proposal has successfully passed.
