On the morning of June 19, the 2024 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferring Ceremony of Henan University was grandly held in the Lecture Hall on the second floor of Computer Science building at the Jinming Campus. The ceremony was attended by all university leaders, representatives from the University’s Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, key officials from various departments, representatives from training units, and representatives of the graduating students in 2024. The ceremony was presided over by Bo Ji, the Secretary of the University Party Committee.

At 9 a.m., the graduation ceremony commenced amidst the solemn notes of the national anthem. In his address, Bo Ji encouraged the graduates with three key points: Firstly, there should be dreams in their hearts, aiming high yet keeping feet firmly on the ground. One must earn respect through actions, looking up at the stars while also being down-to-earth, making steady progress towards chasing and realizing dreams. Secondly, there should be a sparkle in their eyes, illuminating the present and guiding the future. As students of Henan University, it is imperative to bear the historic responsibility of contributing to a strong nation. It’s essential to be Henan University graduates who are idealistic, passionate, responsible and committed. Thirdly, graduates should have strength in their stride, to achieve personal growth as well as contribute to society. Let the spirit of Henan University, characterized by its unyielding perseverance and relentless self-improvement, be infused into their very veins and soul. May the enduring emblem of the “Iron Pagoda”, standing tall and steadfast through the ages, accompany them on their journey, providing strength as they tread the path beneath their feet with determined strides.

Congzheng Yuan, representative of the graduating postgraduates and a student from the College of Chinese Language and Literature, reminisced about his eight years in Henan University with heartfelt sincerity. His humble and genuine words were filled with endless gratitude and deep affection for his alma mater, showcasing the vast enthusiasm and sense of responsibility that students of Henan University bring to the cause of building a modern socialist China. Xiaoting Huang, a representative of the undergraduate students from the School of Life Sciences, extended her heartfelt best wishes to all graduates and expressed her determination to follow in the footsteps of her senior peers. She committed to drawing on the spirit of resilience, progress, confidence, striving, openness and innovation—the new spirit of Henan University—to write a brilliant chapter worthy of the era, the people and history. Professor Xuebo Chen, representing the faculty and serving as the Academic Vice President, offered his warmest congratulations and earnest hopes to all graduates. Speaking as a mentor, he imparted valuable life advice to the students who are about to embark on a new journey: firstly, to maintain a passion for learning and a desire for knowledge; secondly, to uphold positive beliefs and an optimistic, proactive attitude; thirdly, to keep a sense of patriotism, love for the people and a sense of responsibility.

Academician Suojiang Zhang, the President and Chairman of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, personally adjusted the tassels and presented degree certificates to each graduate representative.

The performance themed “Our Youth” propelled the ceremony to its climax, with faculty and students from the School of Journalism and Communication and the Music School of Henan University presenting a splendid array of performances that led the entire audience to relive their vibrant youth.

Amid the powerful and stirring melody, the faculty and students united to sing the university anthem, reigniting in the hearts of the graduating students a profound sense of affection for their alma mater. The HENU Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferring Ceremony for the year 2024 officially reached its conclusion amidst the resonant chorus.
