From September 12 to 14, the 2023 Female Scientists Academic and Science Popularization Campus Tour was held at the Jinming Campus of Henan University. Twelve outstanding female scientists from the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Shandong University, and other universities and research institutes participated in this event, bringing a high-end academic feast to more than 600 students from Henan University and affiliated primary and secondary schools. The opening ceremony was presided over by Vice President Xuelu Wang.

At the ceremony, President Suojiang Zhang welcomed the arrival of the female scientists on behalf of HENU. He confirmed that female scientists not only made outstanding contributions in their respective fields but also made great contributions to the popularization of science with a high sense of responsibility. This activity has an important impact on stimulating the scientific research interests of young teachers and students, especially female staffs, and enhancing their confidence and determination to engage in scientific research.

Later, Xuemei Chen, a professor at Peking University and an Academician of the US National Academy of Sciences, Professor Guangmin Xia from Shandong University, and Professor Haiyun Ren from Beijing Normal University made reports respectively. At the meeting, attended female scientists shared their academic achievements and the difficulties they encountered in scientific research, inspiring the confidence of young students to overcome difficulties and bravely reach the peak of scientific research.

During the face-to-face communication with female scientists, the female scientists combined their own experience and professional knowledge to encourage students to stick to their interests, surpass themselves,  and overcome difficulties.
