On August 14, the Frontier Forum on the Intersection of Chemistry and Environment of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the chemistry discipline of Henan University (HENU) was held at Jinming campus library. Academician Suojiang Zhang, President of HENU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The opening ceremony was presided over by Vice President Shenglei Fu.

At the conference, Suojiang Zhang said that chemistry and geography were both distinctive and advantageous disciplines of HENU with a century-old history. He expressed that efforts should be concentrated on pioneering and innovation to promote the cross-integration of chemistry and the environment. He indicated that efforts should also be put into making breakthroughs in international exchanges and cooperation in terms of discipline construction, talent teams, scientific research, and social services. He hoped that experts would give more advice to chemistry and environmental subjects to help with their development and also recommend more outstanding personnel to HENU.

Focusing on chemical and environmental issues related to pollutant control, the Forum conducted heated exchanges and discussions on hot topics in pollutant control and detection and analysis at home and abroad. At the conference, a total of 13 experts gave valuable reports, including Academician Guibin Jiang, researcher of the Research Center for Eco-environmental Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zongwei Cai, academician at the European Academy of Sciences and professor of Hong Kong Baptist University, and Professor Aijun Tong of Tsinghua University, making a rich academic feast for attending teachers and students.
